((This is mostly the Metatron from the movie Dogma. While I have incorporated as much of that canon as possible, I have also expanded with non-movie sources, such as the Kabbalah, the Book of Enoch, and other such non-standard sources. There's just too little in the movie for in depth RPing. Although I hasten to point out that in a deleted scene it is revealed that angels did originally have genitalia, and that they still *ahem* induce lust just by their presence.
There are sources that claim the Metatron existed before the prophet Enoch ("Here Metatron is described in two ways: as a primordial angel and as the transformation of Enoch after he was assumed into Heaven."). There's precedent, as Jesus Christ existed before he was born. During the time that he lived as Enoch, he was a renowned scribe, father of Methuselah, and great-grandfather to Noah. He was given the opportunity to visit heaven and hell both before dying. At the end, he was translated by God into an angel. According to these myths the Metatron does more than speak for God, he hands out the orders to angels ("According to Johann Andreas Eisenmenger, Metatron transmits the daily orders of God to the angels Gabriel and Sammael."), although I would not expect other muns to keep to this, as their pups may be from other worlds, records all the world's events, and carries prayers up to God. Also, the Metatron is an aspect of the Shekinah, or vice versa, it's not clear. The Shekinah is sometimes interpreted as the feminine aspect of God. Mostly I take this to mean he's more androgynous/hermaphroditic than strictly appears. Makes sense, God appeared as both male and female in the movie. Metatron, always enigmatic, has perhaps 100-200 different names he uses to conceal his functions and aspects (Atarniel - An angelic guard stationed at the 7th heavenly hall. Sithriel - "when he hides the children of the world under his wings to preserve them from the angels of destruction.")
Through the ever present process of Nexus, LOL, this Metatron also has the ability to imbibe and get mildly buzzed, although not drunk. He was given male parts and had a fling with Cordelia Chase. Later he was also given female parts, mostly for the mun's amusement. Through an entirely complicated and unforseen sequence of events, he ended up in love with Captain Jack Sparrow. It's unconditional and non-exclusive, so Jack's free to fool around. Metatron also cured Jack of his cancer and gave him immortality. That quest took months, nearly killed Jack, and almost got Metatron expelled. He still is awaiting punishment on that one.))
